seeking a Contract Software Engineer for ongoing work on its FIX Protocol engine. This individual should have a strong background in developing high-frequency trading systems in JAVA. You will be required to work within a team of highly experienced engineers using their experience as well as your own to accomplish tasks quickly and produce high-quality results.

Candidates should be prepared to demonstrate proficiency with JAVA and sell-side financial trading systems, especially futures exchange trading. Candidates should also be able to demonstrate knowledge in several of the following areas: JAVA, SOAP (AXIS 2 & Spring-WS), JMS messaging (ActiveMQ), and XML Parsing (JAXB). Knowledge of the FIX protocol is required. Knowledge of EPAM (B2BITS) FIX engine is a plus. we expect candidates to be comfortable with continuous integration and source code control. Knowledge of Perforce, TeamCity, and Intellij IDEA are plusses.

Convertible Bonds business is a part of growing Equity division with trading hubs in London, New York and Hong Kong. Convertible Bonds development teams are located in New York, London and Prague.

We develop and maintain Convertible Bonds trading and research applications. Our primary users are Traders, Sales and Research teams. Important part of our work is day to day interaction with business users. This is a great opportunity to get insight into very interesting part investment banking business, which is growing even in current times.

Global Convertible Bonds IT development team is relatively small with great relationships among team members (~12 software developers). Every member of the team participates in requirements gathering and analysis as well as architecture and design decisions as per his or her expertise and interests. Developers from all three locations interact on a daily basis and everyone’s voice is heard. Our team follows Scrum – agile development methodology with its sprints, planning, regular releases and daily scrums.

Applications we develop and maintain are critical for Barclays Convertible Bond business and business continuity is therefore an important aspect of our work. We emphasise code quality and with every release we devote some time to do code re-factoring and improving code coverage. Our builds are supervised by Team City Continuous Integration server.

The APS EM Credit & IRG Application Support US (Application Production and Support Electronic Markets) is part of a global team providing services directly to the global Credit and IRG business, which is part of the largest bank in the Euro zone by deposits and the second most profitable investment bank. The team is concerned with the production support and release of solutions providing discreet functionality, driven by the global Credit and IRG business. The systems are used globally with major server hubs in London, NY, Tokyo and Singapore.

The team is responsible for supporting globally the ION platform, in-house pricing application, algorithmic trading components, STP, for Credit and IRG business.
The key focus is to provide BAU production support issues/user enquiries and align processes and procedures with the global support teams. To ensure current service agreements are met and requirements are successfully implemented. Establish a high level of quality for the production systems supporting the FI businesses.

Day-to-day responsibilities as Support Analyst:
The role is to provide 1st line technical support to the Fixed Income Credit and IRG eTrading desks.
The role will require the management of all aspects of the Global Credit and IRG systems for Fixed Income Electronic Markets IT, working closely with all the support and development teams across the regions to continue to build a market leading support organization for FI IT.
The team is responsible for monitoring the system availability, proactively preventing system problems, and responding to system incidents when they occur. They are also responsible for problem analysis, managing system change and ensuring minimal impact to the end users.
Ensure root cause analysis is undertaken for all incidents.
Communicating the status of the system. Providing ETAs for solutions when necessary.
Improving the monitoring and support systems by doing scripts to automate the support and writing specification for monitoring and support team that will be transferred to the development.
Regularly review and improve the checks done by the team (morning, checks, evening checks)
Coordinate the package build of third part application, and test it.
Review the releases which are planned.
Participate to the UAT phase of the major delivery.
Write and maintain documentation.
Work in partnership with the Mumbai team and train them.

Candidate Profile:
IT Technical Support understanding Functional aspects of Trading.
Must be a high caliber graduate with ability to solve complex problems under pressure.
Experience in FI support.

Knowledge/Skills/Experience Required:
Must have driven, enthusiasm and be committed to work.
Must be able to work with minimal supervision and be able to use own initiative.
They also need to be a strong team player. The ability to deliver results quickly and under pressure is essential.
We are looking for someone who is analytical and able to solve complex problems.
The successful candidate will be expected to multi-task and to be able to prioritize work.

The z/OS Storage Administrator function is responsible for administering the policies, procedures and best practices in Storage Administration across all mainframe disk subsystems, virtual and non-virtual tape systems, space management and XRC / Global Mirror (DR) maintenance.
